ok guys heres my problems. I have pretty much decided my right rear caliper is seized up because its makign the rim really hot and i smell brakes burning when i stop the car. I have an 11.5 inch brake kit in the rear, it was on the car when i bought it. Do those kits use a stock caliper, or are they something special? Also my brakes are makign a nice squeekign noise when im driving at all speeds but when i step on the brakes it goes away. The front sounds lie ka rock might be jammed up in there or something so im going to check that tomorrow. My rear is making a sort of squishing sound and that wont go away untill i get on the brakes more then a slight touch. It almost sounds like the tire is rubbing the shock or something sort of squishing. Any ideas abotu any of this?

Check your rubber brake hose for restriction before assuming the caliper is sticking. Hose failures are far more common, especially if you live in the salt belt.

It has a literally brand new stanless line on it and the brakes were just blead 20 miles ago. The car was in an accident and the right rear side got smashed, the rear suspention that is and i think it might have screwed the caliper up.

just went outside and spun both left side tires where the nboises are somming from, and nothing. Soooo it seems liek the noise is only there when the cars weight is on the rims. I didnt see any stones or anything that sould be makign the noise. Any thoughts of things that could make that noise only when weight is on the rims?

Did you replace the spindle or the hub when you repaired the car? There was a changeover in hub designs that causes something to rub due to a slight offset change. I really don't remember what or what the year(s) were. It might have been a 89 only thing.

If you are running Josh's 11.6" rear rotor brackets, make sure you get 90-92 rear calipers and brackets and not 93 stuff if you need to replace the rear calipers.

the seized caliper is on the right where the accident was and the sound is on the left side. so that spindle never changed. Im going to assume its the 11.6 kit i was told 11.5 when i bought it but its probably that kit. So i need a 92 caliper. I can post a pic of the caliper would that help?

As far as the squeeking i cant really explane it any better other then sayign it sounds like something hitting metal and making a pretty loud squeek. its not constant sounds like it makes the noise once every revolution. When i back up it sounds liek its making a tickign sound lie kti hooking into the heat sink on the top of the rotor and making a clicking. However poward it is a squeel, i think its constant at slow speed but at higher apeed it sounds like once a revolution. By fast i mean 30-40 after that it just sounds like a solid highbitched squeel. Iv herd it before on cars they drive by and you hear err err err and your lie ko pos haha. I dont understand because it goes away when I hit the brakes.

well i know 92 and 94 are different 93 probally is too. it looks like a 92 to me but the only way to tell is by unbolting it the slide pins are in different spots on the caliper mounting bracket.

mine was recently sticking too. but mine was ebrake related. i thought it was the cable sticking, which yours could be, but i found out that was not it in my case. it was actually the part on the caliper that spun when the ebrake was applied, even with the cable unattached it still would not fully release until i pried it back. look into that. easy was is to just take your wheel off. get a screwdriver and pry the spot where the cable enters the caliper. pull it kinda towards the back of the car, youll see what i mean. then test it out, obviously keep the ebrake off during this time.

92 rear caliper. 93 and up don't have the connecting brace at the bottom.
(maybe I'd better go look)

I think you may be right because the junkyard suspention i got had a caliper with no brace across like that. I was more worried abotu it not being a stock caliper then knowing what year. Im going tomorrow my local napa ordered in the 92 and 93 calipers and im going to bring mine and we will see which one is the same. Although its 85 bucks with a core charge, more then i expected. I jsut bought a duel piston caliper for my F150 and it was only 45.

I learned something and i posted this in another thread also but here goes again.
whenever their is a rear brake problem make sure you get them checked since i noticed my rear brakes on my SHO are the same as my old GL and my old GL was making noise so i didnt think nothing of it right away i just figured id get to it later and well i went for a drive one night and it was dark and i noticed a light glowing in my side mirror and wasent sure what it was till i slowed down and noticed the rim was throwing flames off it.
it killed the bearing, brakes, brake lines and warped the rotor to all ****. but somehow the tire was fine. o and the plastic rim cap was melted to a pile of grey goo. took me like 20 mins to get it out with snow lol
later on after i fixed it it ended up doing it again and i learned it was because of a bad rubber brake line that wasent letting the fluid go back threw to release the calpier.
so life lesson for me is any brake noises need checked a.s.a.p
