One of the threads in the transmission for the oil pan bolts is damaged and the bolt does not hold tight the pan so a little fluid is leaking. I've read about Helicoils fixing stripped threads, but which would be the correct size of helicoil to use for the transmission bolts?
I know the bolt heads are for a 10mm socket, but what about the thread?
I assume the threads are Metric?

Don't use a helicoil. Use a solid thread insert instead. Bolts are probably 10mm X 1.25 and you can find a thin walled insert. You can go to the website below that list the inserts, the drill sizes, and the tap size needed to install them for reference.

McMaster Carr stocks these inserts if you can't find them locally.

Hey that looks easier to do than the helicoil and would seem a bit more durable too. I'll search around if I can find a kit locally.
Thanks!
