My heater recently went out, and now that it is getting cold I need to fix it. I do not think it is the core because it is not leaking nor do I smell any antifreeze in the car. I think it has something to do with the EATC or some of the flaps it controls. I remember hearing something back there creak and moan when some of the buttons were pushed. Then not long after that I tried the heater and it didn't work. It just blows cold air.

Is there some kind of electric motor that controls the heater flap or is it vaccum controlled?

First step is to put the old EATC back in and try that. What else should I check?

The blend door module is behind the dash. It is located adjacent to the heater core and retained by 3 hexhead screws. Figure about a weekend for removal of the dash for the amatuer first timer.
