I seem to have a slight leak from one or both hoses. Has anyone seen the hose assys. to be bad, or are they more likely leaking at the connection point at the firewall? Kind of tough to get in there and see what's going on.

Mike,
Mine in the 93 leak occassionally down on the cats causing a smell/odor. They are really cheap from FPN (around $7 a pop), and you really can't go wrong by replacing them. They wear out just like other coolant hoses.

Thanks, Jeremy. Should have looked at FPN first, I guess!!!
Nice looking silver '95 you're getting; looks like you're building up quite a stable. My '95 is as nice as ever, just doing a clutch/front end on the '90. I was checking the motor mounts; did the old slip the clutch trick in first, not much action. Then in reverse, all of a sudden the engine popped up about 4" and scared me silly. Mount totally destroyed!
Talk to you later.

If it's just the rubber hose on the ends that's leaking, you can just replace that part instead of the whole hard line. Just cut off the "crimp" and replace the hose with a short length of new rubber hose. I got mine for free at Autozone and used a hose clamp I had laying around. Total - $0 :)

sunny San Juan Bautista,
It's very common for the hose to develop a leak at the crimp connection to the metal heater pipe. This happened to mine last year at 146,000 miles 13 years old. When this happens the best thing to do is replace the short section of rubber hose on both pipes. Just remove the pipes and do what was mentioned above: cut the metal crimp connector off, pull out that little plug that's in there, and clamp on a length of 3/4" bulk hose that's the same length as the rubber you took off. I like to use a little silicone spray when installing cooling hoses. It would be a good idea to use high quality 3/4" bulk hose. I used some Motorcraft hose that the dealer gave me for free. I bought new clamps though from walmart. Now would also be a good time to replace the upper heater hoses (metal pipe to heater core). You'll have to cut off the stock clamps. Those clamps are the devil!! I would go with the motorcraft heater hoses up there. I used some aftermarket hoses I got but the quality doesn't seem as high and the cost was the same as if I bought the OEM stuff from FPN.
