i've decided this job sucks. the dash part isn't that bad, it's the AC lines in the engine compartment. The tools i've got don't disconnect the lines, they're either too thick or too short. What type of tools did ya'll use? also, any other tips you can give me? Thanks.

I use the $10 tools available from Autozone. It can be tough to separate the lines even with the tools if there is any dirt or corrosion on the connections. Make sure that you properly evacuate the AC system before you try to disconnect those lines, just in case you haven't already.

This job will suck, and hurt your hands. I did it 2 summers ago, took my time since I was being driven around(Buying gas sucks too).

The cheap plastic ring tools work fine. It takes awhile if the spring thingy is rusted. It might take a lot of force, but try not to break any thing. Dont forget to take off the (3) bolts with washers built-in off the firewall. (IIRC)

Some people give up and cut them, but I wouldnt. Spay a lot of rust remover or whatever u want onto the spring thingy (I forget the name of it)

If u need the color and or size of the two ring tools, i can find out.

has anyone done it without taking the AC lines off? if so, how?
The heater core box is also connected to the ac core box, so in order to get to the heater core you will need to take those lines off. The tool is only used to uncouple the ac lines, you need to pull on the line to seperate them, the tool wont be able to pull them apart. I got frustrated taking the lines off cause i thought the tool would seperate them fully, I got ****** and tried basically ripping the ac lines from the firewall and to my suprise it came out real easy. best thing to do is practice on the fuel lines.
