Yes...Sad But True

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Is it really a 1000 bucks have someone fix this?

Is it really that hard for someone to do it themselves. I've done a few waterpumps and gotten my hands a little dirty(helped out) with a clutch job...is there a sort of "work around" for the A/C part of it. I just need some advise. Thanks!

Bypass it for the summer (you'll have to tough out the last few chilly days left!), and worry about it in September!

It can be done DIY, but if you search through the forum and read posts from the people who've done it you'll see that it's a real pain, and may be worth paying someone to do it just to avoid the frustration.

I believe book rate labor for the job is like 8 hours, then there's the cost of the heater core and evacuating and refilling the a/c. So $1000 probably isn't far off.

You can do it yourself with the help of a service manual, plan an entire weekend around it though. Remember to bag and tag everything, wires, nuts, bolts, etc. If you take it step by step it's not that bad.
