Anyone going to be in the Akron, Ohio area anytime soon? I would like some help with the replacement of my heater core. I have read all the threads I can find, and I don't want to tackle it by myself. Thanks for all the great info. I have a little cash and several cases of your beverage of choice.

Thanks all

If you suddenly find yourself alone :D, I ran across this link browsing over at SHOtimes, it documents a heater core exchange on a regular Taurus, but it looks to be quite helpful with regard to the SHO, at least from my perspective (having done my own Blend Door Actuator fix which requires a lot of the same labor).

This guy really took the time to put together a nice tutorial with some great pics:

Sometimes the link won't work, so it's a good idea to print or save the file if and when you can.

Thanks for the offer. I think I may have a local shop do the job this time. They have been recomended by several local people. They quoted me about $550. How does this sound to you guys? Any other places you recomended?

Thanks all

The job is labor (time) intensive. $550 from a reputable shop is a good deal, IMO.

Sounds like a real good posability. What is your zip and I can get a real good idea on drive time. Also maybe send me a pm with an idea of how much you want for the labor and maybe we can work something out. I am going tonight to pick up some parts (al core, hoses, zerex, and some clamps). I will not be re-installing the a/c as I don't use it and it is a real power robber.

Thanks, Jason

Thanks guys it is already bypassed. But it gets real cold and snowy here in the winter, and can't live without the heater. I am having the work done by my neighbor (and myself) he is a Ford certified mechanic and he has done several taurus heater cores. I am also going to do some other work while I'm at it including new motor mounts, serp belt, tranny fluid/filter change, LOF and maybe SFB's. Thanks for all your ideas guys, if you have any others feel free to post.
