HEATER CORE HELP! QUICK!!

I need some help pretty quick! I'm currently pulling my heater core out. I just started unbolting stuff under the dash, but I don't know what I do and don't have to unbolt. And I don't know the easiest route to go to do this.

How long does this take? And what's the easiest way to do this?? Thanks.

Taking out the dash will take about a full day,and another to put it back in.I asked around a few weeks ago,and it sounds to be one of the hardest job to do.Even the Ford manual says"it is recomended that 2 people are used for the dash removal".

Well, from what I can see so far, you don't have to pull the dash. I could be wrong, but I don't think you have to pull the dash.

What I found was that the heater core is ver low in the dash, and has a bottom access panel. If I can get the access panel off, I should be able to pull the heater core back a few inches and bring it down. If now, then I can take a hacksaw to the outside and cut off the heater core ends that plug into the lines at the firewall, and then the heater core should drop right down without being pulled out.

So I think I'm in good shape, but it still looks like it should take quite a while.

Oh well.

ANYMORE INFO GUYS?? Anything will help.

Even if access is possible without removing the dashboard by cutting the core ends, I think clearance would be a BIG problem getting the new core in. Also, have you discharged the AC?? All the manuals strongly recommend replacing the suction accumulator/drier......in fact, they say it is necessary. I have a manual with the entire procedure, and while the access panel if referenced, you still need to remove the dash. Good luck to you, and try to record your steps. If you can do it without removing the entire dash, it should definitely be written up and posted on the "How to" section of this forum.

PROBLEM SOLVED! I bypassed the heater core, so I just won't have heat till I get someone else to do it.

I'll do so much on my own, but when it comes to all of that crap?? FORGET IT!!

I'd rather pay some poor unfortunately mechanic to do that instead of me doing it on my own. hehehe I'm by no means lazy, but I know the difference between not being lazy and being crazy! So, I choose to be smart and let someone else do it. hehehe Thanks guys.
