Head Studs

I searched a few different times and really didn't come up with much.

Are they necessary for a turbo build?

Were they ever available for the 3.0/3.2?

Is there any other vehicle that would share the same head bolt thread pitch and length that could have studs available for it?

no.

not that I know of .

Probably but its useless on our motors. Its usually used to prevent stretching and its claimed to be stronger , really not an issue on our engines.

Studs in the heads for the cam caps though , that would be more useful.

I think all the boosted guys are using stock head bolts and gaskets; I know I am.

That's pretty much what I figured. I know all of you forced induction guys never mention anything about using head studs so I figured you were just using stock head bolts.

As for the cam studs, isn't there a BMW part number for that?

Mine are custom. Don't know any part number for them.

Oh ok, I thought I remembered somebody saying that cam cap studs out of a certain Bimmer would work. I'll have to search for it.

I think they needed to be trimmed, so they aren't plug and play.
