Has anybody added the Driver Assist package?

It seems like all the options to turn everything on in Forscan are there and can just be enabled or disabled. I had heard that the only hardware needed was the correct rear view mirror with camera and adaptive cruise control control switch? I don’t mind spending a few hundred dollars to gain all the features!

Camera, switches, sensor in the front bumper, bracket, wiring, confirming the ForScan settings work, etc. It is a long list. Not impossible but very expensive experiment.

Oh wow. There’s a German guy on YouTube who did it that says all that’s needed for hardware is the camera and ACC switch.

In addition, the Driver Assist package includes Active Park Assist (needs different module than the regular Park Assist, needs Park Assist Sensors, needs Park Assist Speaker, needs Park Assist Switch), Lane Keeping System (needs LDW switch, needs mirror camera, needs windshield defrost heater, needs Blind Spot Monitor Sensor), adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support (needs module/radar in front bumper, needs blind spot monitor sensor, needs forward looking camera, needs rear looking camera, needs steering wheel switches). After installing all of that and supporting items (such as brackets), you would need to see if all vehicles are prewired for these items or install the wiring. Then you would need to turn them on in ForScan. Then you would need to calibrate them in ForScan. Some of these items need to be measured/aligned during install as well.

I went back and read his post. He had successfully added lane keep assist with only the different rear view mirror/camera and changes in Forscan. That and ACC are the most important to me.

ACC is probably the most intricate of all the systems. If you have a PP car, there is a bracket on the trans cooler that needs modified just to mount the bracket and C-CM (module/radar). I have no knowledge if all of the wiring is there or not as mine has Driver Assist from the factory. The radar and the camera will both need to be aligned as well. I am also not sure if there is a wiring difference in the steering wheel. The button assemblies on the left side are for sure different and I would assume this leads to a different pinout at the very least.

It amazes me that Ford did not find a way to provide ACC on a PP car. definitely doable.

Agreed. Cadillac didn't offer Adaptive Cruise on the XLR-V either. Only on the base XLR. I would have an XLR-V in my garage now if they had. I still think a MB SL-63 AMG (with DA) is in my future, unless Ford improves the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance.
