Well I recently swapped to the 190 lph walbro pump and noticed that in the mornings, I have to let the fuel pump prime for a while and I still have problems with the fuel on startup and have to crank her over quite a bit to get her to start..is this the fuel line check return valve? If so can I get just the valve or is the entire pump gone now? shrug

The return line check valve should not affect the fuel line pressure during cold startups. That would be the discharge check valve in the pump itself. There is a proper orientation of the pump that may affect the function of the internal check valve. Either that or the new pump has a stuck or leaking check valve.

Scotty,
Do I need to drop the tank and check everything out? What would I be looking for exactly? The only thing I swapped out was the pump itself when I purchased a 190 Walbro from a buddy of mine. shrug

and when you buy an new pump from a vendor, does it come with a new check valve, etc? Or just the little cylinder-like pump itself? shrug

The fuel pump has an integrated check valve. Then there is also the fuel return line check valve (the orange rubber duck call looking thingy) on the end of the fuel return line next to the pump on the pump/sender assembly. You replaced the fuel pump filter sock (new one should have come with pump) and the fuel filter when you swapped pumps didn't you?

Sorry you're having problems. frown

So all in all the fuel pump itself might be bad? Oh crap! Well I guess I need to order a new one especially if the changing of the fuel filter doesn't help things..

Talk to your fuel pump vendor first to get his input. He just might no more about a bad fuel pump causing these problems than we do. wink

I bought the pump used from a buddy of mine that had it on his mustang fox body...maybe it IS bad after all... shrug
Oh Jeremy! Why would you want to go to all the trouble of replacing your fuel pump only to put a used pump in there? Anyways, my advice would be to get an FPF016 kit from http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/ for $87 shipped. I would also replace at the same time the fuel return line check valve (Ford dealer part) and the fuel filter. When I replaced my pump I cut a flap in the floor pan using the instructions that crazy88SHO posted a short time ago. It was a piece of cake. Used 3 cheapy cutoff wheels on my dremel (2 broke cutting through a bump in the metal)

Good luck!! :)
