Hard starting

I have a 1990 SHO and we just replaced the motor with one out of a 92' and ever sense this, i have to crank on it for a while before if starts up. Once it starts it runs like a champ. I have come to a dead end and i need some proffesional advice please.thanks

Either the camshaft sensor or the fuel pump. The fuel pump is easy to eliminate. Before you start the car next time, "prime" the system to ensure full fuel pressure by switching the key on and off a few times. You'll hear the fuel pump run and build pressure.

If that solves it, it's the fuel pump. If not, it's the cam position sensor.

i have the same problem with my 95 atx... does anyone know where to find the cam sensor???? could that also make the car not want to start sometimes also and the just start up a few minutes later?? i checked the fuel pressure and it is strong, but had a problem starting yesterday then i tried it again and it started right up??? please help thanks gary frown

I have recently been asking about this problem also. sometimes it starts on the first try, othor times it won't on the first try but it will always start the second time. For me i know its not the fuel pump because it and all the related parts were replaced four months ago. Is the CPS the sensor that goes bad if the power steering pump leaks on it?
