Just before I got home last night the brakes quit working on my '93. I have a hard pedal that does not go down much and no brakes to speak of. Any ideas? MC?

Sounds like the same symptoms I had when I lost the booster. And I lost the MC a week earlier so I had 1st hand experience of both failures.

Good luck.

Right on the money Steve. Went out and started the car and immediately heard a major vacuum leak. The 3/8" hose on the back tank was broken.

Thanks

Thanks for posting this Paul. After putting on my new intake, the EATC would only blow out of the defroster and I had no brake booster. I knew I was missing vacuum somewhere and spent a good 30 minutes tracing lines to no avail.

It was 50 degrees here yesterday so I figured I'd give it one more try. Smack dab in the engine bay, there is a vacuum line just hanging there. Sometimes I need to give myself a firm smack in the head. :)

SHOZ123,

Thanks for posting this. This is a good safety topic. I had this happen to me in bumper to bumper traffic at 60mph. As you know you can push on the brake peddel with both feet and get nothing but hard peddel.

It was unnerving to say the least. I nursed the car home using the transmission and the emergency brake.

Moral to the story, check the vacuum lines and connections to the power brake booster on a regular basis, say as part of the oil change service.

This is especially true for those who street race! rangerj
