I would not run a simple crankcase breather filter like shown in above posts. The factory PCV system creates a negative pressure in the crankcase that promotes ring seal. The difference between combustion pressure and crankcase pressure is what pushes the ring against the bore. This goes for all piston engines with ringed pistons.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a slight loss of power on a dyno when running a breather instead of PCV. Of course the buildup caused by PCV eventually causes power loss also...

I feel strongly that a filter added to the existing PCV combined with intake cleaning as often as possible(at least 60K right) is the best we can do for the SHO.

I have only put 10K on my sweet ride, even less with my fuel filter in the PCV line to collect some of the crud before it hits the intake. Perhaps someone with an inline filter setup and more experience could help us.

Anyone who has a NA powered engine and has a breather filter on the PCV system intake is allowing unmetered air into the loop. The only cars which need the filter pictured above are ones with pressurized intakes. The port on the TB that is connected to the valve cover is a fresh air intake for the PCV system. The exhaust side of the PCV system is the big hose at the base of the TB.

Look in your Helm manual and follow the arrows.
