getting ready to do some guages in my car
im planning on water temp, oil pressure, and a wideband all in autometer digital in green lettering to match the stock guages.
my question is where is the best place to mount the water temp sender and the oil pressure senders im using electrical gauges and everything will be wrapped in heat wrap where needed just need to know the best places to get the most accurate readings from

thanks guys

not sure about best places to put it i got a oil filter relocator kit with a aluminum sandwich adapter with 3 places to tap in.. i have oil pressure, oil temp and a line coming out for my by pass oil filter kit.

my cold readings seen as high as about 100 psi cold which im not sure if that is right or not. also i run 3 quarts of 10/30 and 4 quarts of 5/30.
when i had the sensor back where the factory pressure switch was i only seen up to 70 - 80 ish psi
but also i have my relocator on the inner plastic bumper so i had to add a wire for grounding the aluminum sandwich.

mind you when the car is warm tho with my idle set to 1200 i see 20psi which is normal... so i dont know id say best bet is the factory location just run a t fitting in there.. if i recall the size is 3/8 pipe fittings.

I like having a vacuum gauge because its an easy way to tell something is going on.

I've got oil pressure, water temp, and volts. For the water temp there's a plug on the right side of the block that you can replace with your sender. That's what I did. People tell me it will read hot though as it is measuring the temp of the coolant right next to the cylinders.

Oil pressure on the left, water on the right.

to go along with what you said about the factory sensors and gauges being laughable from ford let me explain what the factory oil pressure switch does.

when the oil pressure pushing the spring inside the sensor gets below i believe it was 6 psi the spring no longer grounds out and puts the oil light on... the bad oil light that means your rod bearings are now *****. if they had put the proper sensor and gauge on there we would know when the rod bearings are getting bad, instead of when they are now sideways and in the oil pan.

after i installed my oil pressure gauge i even more so relised how bad stock idle is..
a fresh healthy 3.2 sees 12.5 psi at idle thats warm idle imagine hot idle......

my car idles at 1200 rpms currently i have my IAC set open a little higher my oil pressure is 20+ for idle like normal engines.

when it comes to oil and these engines i go over and above.. even got the oil papers from blackstone labs to prove my setup is working very well... i am below the normal specs on wear and such.

ok i want to do this but since i not planning on putting back the original oil pressure sender i just have to screw the oil pressure sender in directly that hole it will fit ? tread size on my oil sender his 1/8"-27npt so this would be a direct fit ?

as for the water sender it a 1/8 npt so do i need some adaptor for the water temp sender or it all good ? they both direct fit

just need to add some telflon on both and tight securely ?

You know, I honestly cannot remember. It's been over a year haha. I just pulled both the old sender and the block plug and took them to ace hardware to match the threads at ace. Bought the adapters there and took it home, Teflon'd it, and tightened it down.

I would get rid of that plastic line ASAP for safety reasons.
It's a bad day when that splits and sprays hot oil on that exhaust!
It's also not NHRA/IHRA legal to have a plastic line running into the car.

Just an FYI.

Oh I know. It's not bent in a way that will stress the plastic, although I don't trust it myself. In about two years I'm going to be doing major work pulling the motor, maybe boring it to 3.2l, and doing the clutch and diff, so when that happens I'll probably swap lines and route them differently.
Currently I just have the oil line routed up through the subframe recall hole in the floor because I didn't want to drill another hole in the firewall. Here's where it passes by the right rear subframe mount.
