Hey guys, I've got a question for you. And yes, I did search first. Sometimes my car grinds going into first gear or reverse. Also, it's a little difficult to shift into second and third, sometimes. I understand that the grinding in first and reverse is normal, but I'm paranoid and I think it happens too often. A friend and I looked at it, and he said that it might be a throw out bearing, but he wasn't sure. Any help would be appreciated.

check for the free fix way first. Do the Clutch Pedal Adjustment Procedure. You do this by pushing from the backside of the pedal out towards the driver seat. You may wanna search on here for the exact procedure it's somewhere. I had this problem just recently and this did the trick but my clutch cable was going bad and i replaced this (still cheaper than the other options)...This of course is assuming you have the cable shifter.

Does it grind into first if you are stopped and put it into first, or does it grind if you put it into first when you're moving (like rolling up to a stop sign with the clutch in)? I believe that it's pretty common for it to grind into if you put it into first when the car is moving. If it starting to get hard to put the car into gear and it's grinding, its probably the throwout bearing. This happened in my mustang and it got progressivly worse untill I basically couldn't even get it into any gear.
