Never thought I'd really use the cooled seats that much. I have however used the cooled seats almost every time I am in the car the last couple of weeks with the weather here in KC. Tint also seems to help a bunch when the SHO is left in the sun for a while.

Love them too. How do you guys like the contour seats? Were they worth the upgrade? My driver side lumbar is not working, and I think Ford might have to replace the seat. If the connector is the same, I might see if I can pay the difference for the contour seat, but I have yet to try them out.

Steve, you may want to check in to that. Per the factory service manual (please excuse the incorrect quotation marks, I'm too lazy this morning to properly quote):

"Climate Controlled Seat System
The system contains the following serviceable components:
  • Thermo-Electric Device (TED) and blower assembly within each front seat cushion and backrest
  • Air filter attached to each TED and blower assembly (for cusion TED filter, turn to the left to remove) (backrest TED filter is not serviceable but can be removed)
  • Cushion and backrest foam pads
  • Cushion and backrest trim covers
  • Climate controlled seat buttons, located on the FCIM
  • Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module (DCSM), mounted to the bottom of the front passenger seat
  • HVAC module"

Sounds like if your seat back isn't cooling (or heating) it is NOT by design. I notice the seat back in my car working, although it seems to take longer to feel cool than the seat bottom.

Bill:
Didn't try the non contoured seats since ours (in Canada) only come with the upgrade, but I like them and they're fairly supportive.
I'd put them on a par with my Lexus ISF seats.

If you can pay the diff for the upgrade I'd say go for it -- I'm pretty sure you'll be glad you did.

Rod and Steve,
I don't recall mine blowing on the back portion either. I use mine everytime I get in my car. I'll let the car run a few minutes before I get into it and see if I can feel by hand the air coming from the back. I was under the impression it was only for the butt portion though.

I have no cooling or heating on the 'back' portion of the seat either. I thought it was only the bottom too....
So, you guys feel cool air coming thru the perforation holes in the seat back?

I can feel it on mine, barely, but it's there, mainly around the shoulder-blade area of the seat back.

Didn't really appreciate mine until today, I spend the past 3 days detailing a friend's daughter's car and spend about 2 hours finishing it this morning before delivering it. Had my son pick me up in the SHO, after sweating like crazy most of this week, between the detailing and being in the sun for scuba teaching every afternoon, those cooled seats felt amazing when I got in the car with my son...I love them!

Quick update. Turned car on for 10 minutes before I left work. Bottom cushion was blowing just fine, not on the back portion. I turned on the passenger seat and for my 30 minute ride home, nothing could be felt on that back portion either but the seat bottom was blowing nicely.

I can't believe that some of us would have faults with the seats and some say both halves blow cold air. IDK, but I don't think the seat backs are set up to blow air. Maybe TaurusBuilder can comment on this since he's around them daily. TaurusBuilder, you out there? Hollar at one of the interior guys for us would ya? ;)

Just checked the owner's manual and it's not in it but I am almost sure that I read somewhere that only the bottom of the seats are heated and cooled. I wish I could remember where I saw it but I can't seem to find it now.

To confirm that, at least on my car, the back also is cooled and heated, I got out the thermal imaging camera tonight. Sure enough, the seat back is heated and cooled, although it is less effective than the seat bottom heating and cooling. I also checked the rear heated seats. They work, and appear to work more effectively than the fronts. They also appear to be the standard resistance wire heating elements whereas the front seats are the thermal electric coolers.

Attached are the images I took of my driver's side seats. I didn't check the passenger side front seat.

Seat and car turned off:
Caroff

Cooling feature on for 1 minute:
Dr Front on 2

Front heater on:
Dr Frt heat 2

Rear heated seats:
Dr Rr on
