I got my cams welded today and all I can say is HOLLY CRAP! I love this car even more, the cleaning of the intake did a tremendous job of power increase and throttle response. The welds on the cam looked great! I'm now just wiatin for tommorrow to roll around so Kirk can do all of my suspension work :D THANK YOU MUCH KIRK!!!

Today I got the suspension work done wich include: SFC's, Alum SFB's(Brian's), FSTB, and 24mm front bar with new TPR bushings. This thing handles GREAT! I love this car even more! I would recomend going to Kirk to get the cams done before going to anyone else. Because he's a great guy and you will deffenatly get along with him. Everything was done fast and it was also an outstanding job on everything. It was also ALOT cheaper than any shop I know of that would have done this.

THANX AGIAN KIRK!

Keep me informed about the "oversteer" or "understeer"... After you have figured out the car good, test it in a large un occupied parking lot.

Kirk is in MA. I'm sure that we could work something out for him to make a trip to MI.

Go to V8SHO.com and click on "folks who will weld your cams". It gives list by state of reliable shops or individuals that have experience in welding the V8 cams. You can also read reviews by customers of most everyone on the list. Check it out.

My cams were welded 5/03 at FPS in Atlanta, GA. The cost was $580 total, I'm very happy with the results. Kirk sometimes charges a little more I think if he comes to you, but I feel that is more than fair since he's traveling and taking the time to do them.

Cost me $800 for Kirk to do them but he travled down to OK to do it for me. I think it's $550 if you go to him. I would say expect anywhere from $500-$800 for it.

Anywhere from zero to infinity. There really isn't a hard-and-fast number. It's an issue which can occur anytime the engine is turning. Read up at http://www.v8sho.com and look at the varying miles on the failure list.

is it almost certian that this will happen. Does it always make clicking noises up until the big shabanga?

The clicking noise is incorrect... It sounds like more like a lower end running out of oil.. And yes they all should make a noise..

Best thing to do is memorize how your car sounds now, then if you start to hear something different be very concerned. There are alot of people that say that they did not hear the noise, which maybe true, but in all the loose sprocket cam cars that I have seen and there has been several of them they "all" made a noise.

Is it 100% that they will fail? No, not at all.

Here's how it works, the first few cams from each production were probaly ok and will never fail. The kicker is that who has a set of 4 cams that were made from the first set of each production?

4 cams per car, 20000 car equals 80000 cams, there was no order to when they were made nor when they were installed. So you have a better odds of winning the lotto then at somepoint not having them fail.

Kirk is right. There is simply no way to know if or when your cam sprockets might fail, but there is, from what data exists, a pretty good chance that it will happen eventually if you do not correct the problem first. You should look into getting them welded, by Kirk or elsewhere, as soon as you can.
