Totaled 3 miles away from the dealership. After having a new starter put in for $$$.

New tires and a new PTU in February.

Sigh. This was my first car after getting my first real job.

Bought with 79K miles. Totaled with over 230k miles. Drove like a dream.

Insurance companies nowadays stink. Back in the day, that's probably repairable. Shame, glad you enjoyed the Journey and weren't injured.
The passenger tire was hit a lot harder than it appears in the picture. there was hidden damage to the suspension and steering rack. I was wondering if there would also be damaged to the PTU, but the damage assessment appears to not have gotten that far.

Sorry to hear this. That was more miles than I would suspect for this powertrain. Very impressive. Any ideas on a replacement vehicle?

I was sure it was going to go another 100,000. Still drove like new. I was over at the collision center getting things out of it, and realized that there wasn't a single other car in that dealership lot that I'd take over the SHO

I test drove a mach e, and am pretty sold on it. Wish I could get the same gray as the Taurus to continue the theme, but doesn't seem like it's going to happen. There are good deals on buying or leasing the new 2024s they still have sitting in dealership lots.
Audi, S4 or S6. More power and All wheel drive. But, unfortunately, more to maintain too.
I'm burnt out on maintenance and things to replace. Hoping the electric eliminates a lot of that.

That's a real bummer. I had the same thing happen to my 2010. Fortunately it was in such good shape (except, of course , for the crash damage) that the ins adjuster gave me 2K more than book for it so I could get the 2015, which now has 140K on the clock, and except for those f@cking blend doors, all three of them!!, it's still giving lots of joy and holding up well.

Get another one!! You know you want to!!

I got 3k more than the top end of the KBB estimation - so similar deal. Can't complain with it really. The insurance company was comparing it to Tauruses with a lower trim and lower miles, reducing the value for the mileage, then had to adjust all of the technology the SHO had at the higher trim level.

I was really surprised there wasn't any rust anywhere on it. The steering wheel was getting rough though.

I'm officially in a Mach E now. It has a lot of similarities with the SHO. The drive is rougher and it doesn't have cooled/massage seats, but I'll survive somehow. Also going to miss the trunk space. The mach E has almost nothing in the back compared to the taurus.

So long as I actually save money in not paying for gas, and it is more reliable over time, I'll be pleased as punch.
