Gen III Steering Wheel on Gen I ???

I've heard that a Gen II steering wheel will fit a Gen I, BUT...

...will a Gen III steering wheel fit a Gen I ???

Anybody know?

IIRC from a previous post it would fit but the airbag connector is different.

Well is it just a wire connection that is different because that is the only difference between a Gen1 and Gen2. To do a swap between the 2 just requires a wire splice and you are fine. Are the airbags still the same would be the question I would guess. They do look the same in most respects.

But the 89's didn't have airbags anyway, right? So it wouldn't really matter.

Correct. The 89 SHOs did not feature airbags.

He was also asking about the Gen 3 which if I remember correctly are more then likely dual stage airbags. Which means seat sensors and other electronics.

I could be wrong.....

Gen 1 and gen 2 are swappable though

umm, aren't Gen II and III wheels the same?

They do look the same but the difference could be in the airbags. If the Gen3 are a 2 stage then would it mean that they wouldnt work? Any one know if the Gen3 air bags are the same as a Gen2?
