Newbie here - Just bought a 99 SHO from a wholesale dealer with no warranty and the 6-CD Changer magazine in the trunk will not eject when I push the orange button. I've never worked with one of these before. I figure I'll check the fuse first, but if it's ok what should I check next? Everything electrical in the car works properly except this thing.

I can see CD's in the magazine, so could it be jammed? Is carefully prying it out a good option?

Any suggestions shared are much appreciated.

My moms 98 used to do that when she first got it also. Sometimes it would not eject and it would just click. Then if you tried it an hour later it would work. I found out it helps to have a slot that a cd is in selected on the radio controls before you try to change cds. In other words press cd and get it to play one of the cds left in the cartridge and then turn off the radio and get out and try it. Also make sure the black part that covers the CD changer is all the way to the right. I wouldn't try prying it out by the way. Hope that helps. Make sure to check out v8sho.com and find a place nearby to get your cams welded as soon as possible also!

Sorry - but I failed to mention that the system does not play the CDs that are in there. I shuffle through the six slots and nothing plays.

Do you give it time to load each slot? Does it give you any messages like no DJ or anything?

Disconnect the CD changer and take it out of th ecar all together. From there you can dissect it and get it all out and cleaned up. If the CDs are not registering, it could be any number of things. The CDs could be in upside down or the laser in the changer is not reading anymore.

When I select CD on the radio it blinks "1" - apparently looking for a CD in slot 1, correct? It continues to blink "1", until I do something else. I can advance through all 6 slots and all it does is blink the slot number. There is no "no DJ" message or anything else.

BTW - How do I remove it? Are there screws holding it in or is there some type of push pin arrangement, where I just carefully pull it out?

Thanks guys for your feedback.

Well - I pulled out the CD Changer today and was able to use a paper clip to remove the magazine. Two scratched up CD's were in there. I tossed them and opened up the CD Changer to have a looksee. All the ribbons were intact and nothing looked out of whack so I put it back together and reinstalled everything. However same thing - nothing worked.

What's the best way to trouble shoot my problem as the Changer or the Rear Control Module (RCM) or something else? Paying the Ford dealer is the last option from my standpoint.

There is a small metal finger that senses the cd in there. Mine was FUBARed and replaced but it just needs to be bent out a bit. Sometimes too the screw carriage gets out of alignment a bit.
