Is the red paint color on a '92 the same as a '95? I'm looking at getting some body parts for my '95 that came off of a '92 and I just want to make sure they are at least the same color code.

Thanks,
Jim

Mine is a 95 Ford called the color crimson. The paint code for the 95 red SHO is a WH and the SHO was the only car ford used this color on I believe. I had a tough time finding touch up paint for it. If you can get the paint code off of the 92 and it's the same code you should be home free.

Hey go to a ford dealer at the parts counter they can look up the part# for the red touch up paint for code WH. Once they do that they can use the part locator to find it at one of the other dealers. Lou Fusz Ford did it for me here in St. Louis and there was another dealer here who had a bottle. There was one dealer somewhere in Indiana who had like 10 bottles of the stuff. I had to add a lot of lacquer thinner as the stuff had been sitting on the shelf a looong time, but after I got it thinned out it worked fine bout 7 bucks I think.

The problem with touch up paint is event eh Ford paint does not match when it dries... Saw this from when I bought the car, so I made sure I got the right part number. When wet, it is a perfect match.. .once it dries, it is a little darker.. more like under hood color.

Jason is 100% right about that, any time you try and repaint a part of a car or find a matching part its hard. Diffrent paint from diffrent days is mixed diffrent from factory and is slightly diffrent. You might get lucky and find a perfect match, but thats very very hard to do. Thats why when you paint something you should blend it to the old color sotheres a slow transistion and to the normal eye even though there is a diffrence, you can't tell because the color slowly changes.

Takre off the spoiler on a 95 Red SHO, the trunk will have 2 shades of red, one that was exposed for years, one that has been under the spoiler for years.. Different shades unless the car has been garaged and pampered its whole life. As far as I know, the red was the same from 92-95, but all cars are in different conditions, may have been painted somewhere along the line, etc... Good Luck!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression that 92-93 SHO's were considered "Ultra Red" and the 94-95 SHO's were "Crimson" but I could be wrong.

You are probably right, I could very well be wrong... I'm assuming SHOtimes or something would have a listing of the colors, etc..?
