Will it bolt in? I like the exterior of my car (gen I '89) but I like the later interior MUCH better...does it fit at all? If it's "close" I may try to do it this summer...that or buy a junk Gen II and put my exterior on it...hmm :p

there was a good post on this not long ago, try a search, basically though.. it will physically bolt in, but all the wireing has to be swapped over and you'll need all the electronics and climate controll ect. from the gen 2 and you'll have to swap the door panels or the 89 panels will hit the dash.

Actually the '89 door panels won't hit the dash but it will look really odd since the 2nd gen door panels "flow" into the dash.

and it would be really hard to swap body parts from a Gen I to a II. Well not really hard, but some modification would be required.
i have seen a Gen II w/ a gen I front end, or maybe it was the other way around. ?! im stilling trying to wake up...
but as far as the side molding go that is a different story all together. and the rear bumper dosent match up too good IIRC. maybe i need to get some sleep.....

oops, my bad, i was thinking backwards... it's the gen two panels that you can't swap into a first gen without the gen two dash.. sorry :bonk:
