ok im still a newb to the sho and im sure this has prolly been asked before... but lets put it this way.... right now my gen 3 is in another city since yesterday where a hole rotted out of the inspection pan.. the tranny really smells burnt but still functions normally other then a blinking o/d light. My question is for the gen 3 sho is the tranny same as the regular taurus or it just as special as the v8 block? only asking because i'd rather just replace the tranny then replace just the inspection pan just to find out the tranny is all burnt up and needs rebuilt! It would be awesome if i could just go pluck a tranny out of a reg taurus if it fits??
Well lets say that today is not your lucky day! The V8 sho tranny is different than the regular taurus and I will not install a regular tranny in my sho; it will break very soon because it won't be able to hold the power of the engine.
With that said I will try to replace the inspection cover and hope that the tranny works for some more time but the odds are that your tranny it's toast or soon will be with that blinkind OD Light. (but again I have had my tranny OD light blinking a few times when wheater is very hot and I just turn off the car and after that no more light and I have drove around 40k with no issues)
