First - my apologies for posting yet another thread on headlights, but after searching and reading thru just about every thread on this topic, I still feel that the Gen 1 isn't well addressed (plenty on the Gen 2!).

1. Do other model headlights fit (Sable, Fox body Mustang, etc...)?
2. Has anyone successfully retro fitted other headlights in a Gen 1?
3. Has anyone modified the stock housings with good results?

Rockauto doesn't list headlights, although I can readily find a new set on ebay. At some point, I will be either modifying my new housings w/ a spare set of projectors/HIDs that I have laying around - and I will update w/ pics if/when I get to it!

Input appreciated - pics appreciated even MORE! Thanks!!!:)

There was a member with late fox headlights, he had cut the corner light section of the SHO headlight so it was separate. Didn't look perfect, but it worked and he used an after market clear lens. I believe he was in Alaska.

Adam Varney used Impala headlights. And there was at least one other person that did this too, although the blending with the body was different. Here's Adam's, sorry for the huge pic people, but it gives a closer look.

These 3pc fox body ebay lights work with modification. This is the car SHOContinental spoke of. I plan on using these as a housing for my projectors.

Adam Varney's car looks awesome!

The Impala headlights are a perfect match (w/ the appropriate bodywork). Doubtful there's a nicer Gen 1...

i think those projector housings would look slightly better if paint matched to the car (the inside around the projectors) the inside marker lights look wierd, like sunken in from a front view.

i think it looks a little odd to me because i'm used to seeing the regular headlights on the G1s. excidere please keep us up to date on your project. while i'm out running around tonight i'm gonna try and get some pics of my HID (ballast and bulb in stock housings) kit i have on my G1. a couple of people on the forum have seen them and agree that they look good, but only because my lens are fogged up just enough that it actually helps with scatter and brightness. i've had them in my car (8000K) since xmas time and i think they look awesome, i haven't gotten flashed from opposing traffic or flipped off by those in front of me or pulled over. i also only use my brights to signal traffic ahead of the oncoming taurus about to get real familiar with their back end if they dont get their slow 10mph under the speed limit snow bird, cant see over the wheel of their cadillac ass out of my way.

For temporary use (refinished the originals) I used "UFO" style 86-88 lights. I bought them since they were clean thinking they would bolt in, however they do not fit without removing the trim strips that run from the fender to the grille on each side as well as removing the header panel. I didn't take pictures because It looked the exact same as a Taurus, just a little wide eyed.

I'd like to see some pics of your setup as well. Mine is still pieces in a box in my garage ;)... I have been trying to get the car running again before I go crazy with the headlights. I do agree with the painting of the inside, I think it would much look better to match the body.

The fox lights look pretty good in that pearl white car.

I just can't see how the impala lights look that great in a first gen though.
