hi everyone, i just recently purchased a blue 92 and am in love.
anyhow, while driving this past night, my gauge lights just shut off.
everything else is functioning properly.
i checked fuses 8 and 13 (owner's manual pointed to them) but they were ok.
the autolamp thingy didnt get stuck off on accident so it's not that.
i'm thinking it's some kind of bulb in the dash but i wanted the opinion of those that are cooler than me (but since all the spoiled kids in mommy's mustang arent around i came here instead
:D )

any help would be very appreciated.

It might be the dimmer switch if all of them went out. Try messing with it and see if they come back on, my '92 SLO has the same problem.

when you say it could be the dimmer switch, do you mean, it got bumped and i need to adjust it? (i have, to no avail) or do you mean something actually wrong with it?

Well what I originally meant was that when the dimmer switch was on the brightest setting right before the interior lights turned on that the instrument cluster lights would go out like on mine, but it sounds like that may not be your problem. Can you still turn on your interior lights? Does it still dim the radio? If not, there is probably something wrong with the dimmer switch.

i popped the dimmer panel off and got to testing the wires and it looks like the switch is bad.
i was able to get the lights to come on with a paper clip.
it was the switch after all.
i called oriley and advance but they dont carry the switch.
suppose i'm off to a dealer in the morning, unless anyone has any better ideas on how to procure on of these buggers.
i knew it had to be a pain to get ahold of a new one because it was so easy to get to!
such is life...
thanks by the way.
