Well, a small coolant leak has prompted me to schedule another action packed "work on the SHO weekend". The leak is coming from somewhere around the throttle body, can find where exactly, so the intake is coming off. I got to thinking, well **** since the intake is coming off, may as well take it apart, switchin some new gaskets, clean it....again, and ****, while the intake is off, why not yank the valve covers and replace those gaskets too.

First thing...is there anything that I need to be aware of that isn't covered in the SHOPP write-up? You know, things to watch out for, things to keep in mind, etc.

Also, what should I look for as far as valve-train health? Will I be able to see damage or wear? Are their any telltale signs of shim damage/wear?

Well, just let me know what'chall think. Later.

If you are having a coolant leak by the TB, I would suggest to do the coolant Bypass. By doing this you will never have to deal with coolant leaking on the floor when taking off the intake. Its a very simple procudure.

well, five hours labor, a broken knucle, and a 3 inch gash on my forearm later, the work is finished. I started at about 11:00 Sunday morning and finished just before 4:00. Whoever put in the last sparkplugs is on my list of people to smack, as they didn't use anti-seize on the plugs and were nothing short of a bitch to get out. they also thought it would be a good idea to over-torque the valve cover bolts so that the next person to take them off would break a knuckle and get a 3 inch gash when the bolt finally broke lose and sent them flying into a very sharp edged bolt on the strut tower....

anywho, the SHO pulls like a monster now that the plug wells are clean, the engine is firing on clean plugs, and breathing clean air. I also did the TB bypass, and must say I'm more than pleased with the results.
