I feel like a get gas a lot! Every 250 miles or so. When I go to fill up the gauge reads empty and I get about 13.5 gallons in and then the pump shuts off.

So I was wondering if i could have a smaller gas tank than 18 gallons or if my gauge is broken. I noticed that when the car is off that the needle doesn't drop on the fuel gauge so that makes me think it is just a bad relay or something.

Are you sure? The owners manual says the SHO has an 18 gallon and the DOHC has the 16 gallon. I don't really city drive, it's a little bit of a mix but mostly it's 70mph on back country roads.

There was a debate years ago that some cars came with 18 gallons and some came with 16 gallon tanks. Three50one is right about the mileage though. Seems like you're averaging 18 mpg there Dan. Not too bad really.

Ok thanks guys, a 16 gallon tank would make more sense. I was freaking out because I thought I had an 18 gallon and was getting horrible MPGs until I noticed that it tokk less than 14 gallons to fill up.

You're on par with me and I don't have a light foot. I do a mix of back roads, town, and highway to get to work and get roughly 18-19 MPG.

Straight highway is usually 24-25.

I've been getting 13-14mpg in town. No, I don't have a lead foot or anything. ;)

(But officer, the V8 just sounds so good)

On long highway/interstate trips I do get around 25mpg, though, so I can't complain too much. A little better if I'm driving through Iowa. Iowegians and their lower speed limits....
