I have a "new parts" RSS on my google homepage, and among other things (door lock solenoid being one of them), I noticed they now have the little springy things that always break on the gas tank door. At least, they have it for a 95 ATX. They're like 2.67 and some change. So, no more hunting through junkyards for them!

Buy the Ford OEM part - Fuel Filler Door Spring Assembly.

The one I placed on one of my Taurus's has lasted for years.

The cheaper Dorman one I put on my SHO began rusting almost immediately, and then broke within three months - after having rust-stained the white paint where it attached to the Fuel Filler Access Door. :madflame:

You can distinguish the two, as the Ford OEM part has a straight steel-spring, and the Dorman a curved-spring.

SHOtimer - Doug, what dealer did you get the OEM part at? Dealer List is $12.47, and the cheapest I've found it, is more than $9.00 ! If you still have the receipt, could you post the Ford part number?

Thanks!

Yes. I just bought one from Ford about a month ago, only around $5.00.

man, it'd be nice to be able to get gas without having to open the trunk and pry with the corner of my debit card....
