just a quick question. how firm is your gas pedal? mine is what I would say rather hard to push off idle then it's fine. my car sat awhile and I think I need a new cable or is this normal. it's not the throttle body as I already cleaned it and by hand I don't get that sticky feeling right off.

Hmm, that's an odd one. GM vehicles were always notorious for being a little hard to push at first, then they became easy once they started moving, resulting in a hard accleration.

Have you tried WD-40 or something down underneath the dash where the pedal linkage is?

been there done that. I had both sides unhooked and worked it back and forth forever with liquid wrench.

Disconnect both ends and see if free. Like you said cable maybe rusty or binding. That way can isolate it. Maurice

I really hate to bring an old thread back to life, but I'm having the same problem and wanted to see what the final solution was. My 93 has a very hard/sticky feel off idle. However, I have noticed that I becomes more and more not "sticky" as the car gets driven and warms up.

Check the throttle plate (by hand) for resistance and clean if needed. Also check the throttle cable for kinks, damage, or signs of corrosion.

What he said. GenIII used to gum up a lot around the throttle plate making a lot of pedal resistance.

I just went outside to try and tinker with things and found something interesting. The pedal is totally smooth when the car is just sitting there. So, I started the car and felt the pedal, same sticky feeling off idle. It makes me think it has something to do with vacuum or back pressure? IDK, it's really strange.
