Bad mileage and stumbling

I know this issue has been addressed before, but I couldn't find it...

Lately I've been getting HORRIBLE gas mileage. I'm used to getting 320-350 miles a tank, now I'm barely breaking 200. What would cause this? Also, when I start the car up it sometimes rough idles for awhile or even stalls...I think these two issues could be related.
I would check the O2 sensors. Remember you have two and I suspect that even one could cause this kind of poor performance.

Just so everyone knows, it's been awhile since this was originally posted, all of my fuel economy problems have been solved except for my fuel pump (which died two days ago...the saga continues...)

Just rolled in from a 340 mile trip using the FPS X-calibrator superchip. Mode setting at 89 octane and I got 23 mpg.

How big is the gas tank anyway? 16 or 18 gallonsI have a 97 bult late 96.. Wife gave it to me other day with gas lite on. Naturally it ran out of gas before I got to the station. Put one gallon in then put just under 16 in at station. Thought it had an 18 gallon tank.

I get about 22 on the freeway at 70ish mph. sounds low from what everyone else gets

Hey, mustang Fuel Pumps fit in the Taurus. I had a 190 LPH pump in my old 97GL (I was planning on N2O and FI, that is before I totalled it).

Having run mine to fumes and then filled it to gas sitting visibly at the top of the filler neck, you are looking at about 20 US gallons for the '98. It is worth remembering that the filler neck is very convoluted, and the 'click off' for the gas pump will happen due to backup in the neck not going down fast enough long before the tank is full. I can regularly put an additional 20 liters (about 5 more gallons) in after that first automatic click off by the pump, but you have to dribble it in, particularly the last galon or so.

i spend 100.00 on gas a week man i hate it cant something be done!

Buy a second car. I bought a '94 Geo Metro that I use as a daily driver. It was dirt cheap and gets double to triple the mileage the SHO gets.

mt car had been sitting for about a year before it touched road again (lack of license)

i limped to the gas station with the gas light on
spent about $26 to fill it

got 150 miles out of that tank
probably doesnt help much that i need to drive with my overdrive off because if i dont shut it off it starts to blink and shift real funny

With my V-6, 5 speed, I would get around 25-28 mpg. With my V-8 closer to 22-24 mpg.
