I have had this rhythmical tonal hum out of the rear wheel for about a year. Thought it was suck slider pins or a warped rotor. Turns out the pads warped. They had gotten down to about 1/4 inch of material and began to hum with any brake pressure so loud that car acted like a speaker box and let everyone know I was stopping. I changed the pads out even though I thought the pads were still serviceable. No more hum.
