fuse # for turn signals

could someone please send me the fuse # (not the amp rating) for the directional signals for my '91. I cannot find my owner's manual and the manual from my late '89 does not match up with this car. also, please post the other functions that are controlled by this fuse. if they are working then I have a deeper problem than just a blown fuse. I don't think it is in the stalk because the cornering lamps still work while the blinkers do not. any other ideas would be appreciated. thank you--

Check your ignition switch..my BF had the same problem, see if your reverse lights work as well, and see if your interior lights shut off when you start the engine, and if your defrost works (rear) if non od these work its your ignition switch.

The '91 owner's manual says fuse #1 includes the turn signals, but that system also includes the engine computer, brake lights and cruise control. You would heave noticed these not working. Are the turn signals lighting up, but just not blinking? If that is the case, it is probably the turn signal flasher that is located above the fuse box under the dash. Check fuse #1 and whether or not the turn signals are lighting and just not blinking.

all of the fuses are good and everything else is working like it should. EXCEPT for the emergency flashers. The turn signals are NOT lighting up and the indicators in the instrument panel do not work either. I have removed the panel below the steering wheel but cannot locate the turn signal flasher. could you please give me a better description and location of what to look for. thank you very much for your help. I was thinking that there should be a flasher unit but aren't these things usually located in the fuse box itself?

If the turn signals were lighting and just not flashing, that would point to the flasher which is behind the dash, above the fuse box.

Since your lights aren't lighting at all, and the hazards are not working, that points to the multi-function switch. This switch is about $70 through Ford, but I have heard that you can get them cheaper through other sources. I don't know if those are the same quality though.

To access the switch, use a small box end wrench or pliers (only if you must) to unscrew the tilt lever from the left of the steering column. Then remove the 3 phillips screws from the bottom that hold the two plastic shells onto the steering column. You will be able to spread the shells apart enough to see the two Torx screws that hold the switch to the column. There are two electrical connectors attached to the switch. You will be able to maneuver the old switch out and the new switch in. If you have trouble routing the wires to enable the case halves to screw back together, you may have to remove the metal panel (4 Torx bolts) under the steering column. Is this what you were looking for?
