I purchased a 94 ATX 'round the begining of the month. It seems to be running really well but sometimes when I "get on it" the car will speed up but runs almost to redline before it saggingly catches the next gear. Is this something a simple fluid/screen change could fix or does it sound like something a little more serious?

PS-Do any of you know a RELIABLE shop that is familiar with doing 60ks in the NW Ohio (toledo, Bowling green, Findlay) area?

How smoothly is the tranny actually supposed to shift at 4-5K??? We do have a warranty on it if it truly is a "problem", but I would EXPECT to feel the tranny shift in high RPM's. Am I wrong??

Its on its way out, get it to blow up now while its still under warranty.

lol, Chris ... that's a little severe, don't ya think? wink

IIWM, I'd take it back to the shop/place that originally warrantied it and make them look at it. It sounds to me like the factory line pressure settings aren't enough for the clutch material to grab at the high RPM/load situations you've described, thereby producing the "sagging" shift you mentioned. Assuming a fluid and filter change doesn't help (and I don't think it really will, long-term), then you may need some new clutches, possibly more.

Have the shop look at it and let us know what they find.

LOL, thanks. We decided to buy a an ATX rather than MTX because even with hard driving, we thought it would still take less abuse (due to preset shift points) than an MTX that has been driven into the ground. We plan on changing the fluid and screen later in the week, hopefully it will feel better after that. Honestly, I don't even notice it (and I drive it harder than he does), but it drives my husband nuts! Anyone know of a good shop in the Northern OH, Southern MI area??

Probably the best "well-known" tranny shop close to your area would be SHOfast Performance in Cincinnati. Here is their contact info:

Brad Hogue
SHOfast Performance
5300-B Rapid Run Rd.
Cincinnati, OH 45238
513-451-6555 (shop)

As for 60k services, you might try heading over to the Tri-State SHO/SVT Club forum and asking around over there. I know there are more than a few able-bodied mechanics in your area who would be more than willing to help you out in this regard.
