Does anyone know of any functional stock spoilers from any car that might fit a gen1 sho with some minor/mild modifications?
I was thinking along the lines of the Impala SS spoilers, or the new M3s, where its really more of a lip style spoiler than spoilers raised above the thunklid.
If its not worth trying to find a 'functional' one, ill likely just modify or mold a gen 2 stock spoiler to the trunklid.

Most spoilers do nut become functional till around 120mph or so. In otherwords a spoiler will not do much for a car. They are only ment to keep the back end down which since we have a front wheel drive car it isnt much of an issue.

I was visiting the SRT4 forum and they were talking about removing their spoiler and the differences. Their factory spoiler is functional. They said it didnt change much to help in handling or anything else.

In otherwords a spoiler will not do much.

When it kicks in at 120+ (or wherever), your front wheels won't really be scrambling for traction. From what I've heard from Robert Schmidt and Glen, a spoiler does indeed help a considerable amount at that kind of speed, to keep the back end more solid.

But yeah, around town it's not really going to help ;)
Unless you're going 120+ around town :bonk:

I'm actually having trouble keeping the rear of my SHO solid at 100+ speeds, and YES I do that pretty often.. Los Angeles freeways seem pretty twisty when you're going that fast.. at times I thought I was on the verge of spinning.. it felt like the rear wanted to let go I could feel it and hear the rear tires.. scary.. maybe a giant ricer spoiler is in my future.. :oogle:

Your problem is that your original stock shocks are completely and totally gone. Get some shocks and your car will stay planted.
