Recently started smelling gas while driving. Also has a loss of power especially at 3k+ rpm. Seems to be getting terrible fuel mileage, and blows a little bit of blue smoke sometimes under hard acceleration. Idles rough as well. Haven't found a fuel leak anywhere, and fuel pressure at idle is around 33psi. Remains at 30psi after engine shutoff and does not drop.. Don't see any gas around the FPR either. Anyone have any idea what could be causing these issues?? Seems like it might be running rich ? I'm gonna check the vapor canister. Thanks for any pointers!

Just pulled the codes and there are no codes with engine off or engine running.

for the fuel smell, I would have also looked at the evaporator canister. not sure about the other symptoms. does your car have an EGR set up on it

Hi, so i drove the car today, didn't smell any fuel, but I'm sure that problem is still there. I will look more and find it though and post. As far as the power loss, basically it cuts out right after 3k rpm, and runs a little rough at idle. The car does not have an EGR system. The car also has a bad oil leak coming from the front of the engine (passenger side). I can't tell exactly where it's coming from because of all the **** in the way. I really need to fix that too. Once or twice the car didn't want to start and I'm thinking it's the cam or crank sensor going bad because of the oil leak ? Not sure if that has anything to do with the other problems though

Could be. Remove the cam sensor and take a look. Usually see alot of oil in there. Is the car able to get above 4k rpm? Are the secondaries able to open?

Ok I will check that. The car revs well obove 4k no problem, and it sounds like they are opening. I can feel the car stumbling and cutting in and out right after 3k, and lacking power, but i can no longer feel it cutting out as soon as I hit 4k.

if you unplug the cam sensor, then it will take a few tries to start the car (since its guessing). if it runs fine after that, then its the cam sensor

Simply run your finger along the bottom of the cam sensor to see if there's an oil leak. No need to remove it.

No codes. So go after a dirty MAF, bad plug or wire (unlikely given that the problem would be across the whole rev range if so), or vacuum leak.

Just tried checking the cam sensor and there's no way I can get my hand in there without removing a bunch of ****. So I will have to get back on that. Most of the front of the engine is covered in oil, especially that area, so I'm sure there's gonna be oil on it.
In this picture there's this vacuum diaphragm thing and I can't figure out what it is. The metal ring holding the 2 halves together is not on all the way, and it is partly open.
EDIT: I believe it's the cruise control servo

you should be able to reach the plug at the top of the cam sensor to disconnect it

It's tight in there. When I go to remove it I have to get long extensions and go through a hole in the fender well with the liner removed.

I had same thing on my 92 sho and found the fuel pressure regulator on the intake passenger side was leaking and when I was trying to get it out was stopped by the upper intake tube not letting me remove pressure regulator from lower fuel rail around I have to remove those intake tubes in order to get the regulator out and back in unless I wanted to screw up the threads no thank you hope this helps
