This is one of those questions I probably already know the answer to, but need a little expert help to be sure.

My 1990 was running perfectly. Pulled up to a stop light and it died. Started right up, and drove into a parking lot less than 1/4 mile away. Went into a store, came out, and the car will not start.

Got a code 95 (fuel pump secondary circuit failure), and 0 fuel pressure on the fuel rail. A search here turns up all kinds of stuff on the words for the code, but none of it actually says exactly what is wrong, and the codes referenced are all 3 didgits which means one of the newer models.

Are there any relays or fuses somewhere that could cause this, or should I just start cutting a hole underneath the back seat?

I have already replaced the fuel filter. And there is no fuel pump noise as there used to be when the key is turned on.

Any suggestions?

If you turn the key to the 'on' position without engaging the starter and you do not hear the fuel pump prime the system, then most likely the fuel pump has failed. There is a possibility that a relay or something has failed but less likely than pump failure. You can always check for voltage at the inertia switch in the trunk to see if power is making its way to the fuel pump harness.

That's the first thing I'd do. If it's receiving power, I'd bypass the switch with a paper clip to see if it powers the pump. I had a switch that would act up on me when plugged in, so I just bypassed it so it would work at all times.

Also, I wouldn't recommend cutting the floorboard unless you have something to seal the cuts with. Being in Texas, it's not hard to drop the tank either...unless you have it filled with gas.

You should be ok with the switch if there is power both to and from the switch and the pump is not priming. You can track down the problem in either direction from that point. Just to be clear, the red button must be in the depressed position to send power along to the fuel pump.

try hitting the fuel pump "reset swich" or some version of that on the left insideside of the trunk. i would walk to my car and check the exact terminology but its a half mile away parked in a lot w/ 1000 other cars haha. with me my engine would just turn over and not get any gas so i just hit that swich and it started right up (after about 5 or 6 hours of checking everything and pulling all my hair out)

You want to press the button in. If you actually hit the switch it would cut power to the fuel pump. The whole purpose is to cut the fuel pump in the case of a collision.

if you discover that you arent getting power to the switch... the relay is in the IRCM... its a little black box on the core support... these hardly ever go bad... but they have been known to ..
