I own a 91 black SHO with 185K miles. The beast just keeps running and running. Lately, it has been very tempermental when trying to get her started. It will not start when the engine is hot or if it is very hot outside. If it does start it sputters out after a few seconds. On some occasions the fuel pump does not prime when I turn the key. Very speratic. I replaced the fuel pump about 8 months ago. I am almost positive that it is a faulty fuel pump relay, unfortunately I cannot find the damn thing. Does anyone know where the fuel pump relay is located on a 91 SHO? All Generation 1 will probably be the same.

Appreciate your help.

if you let the car sit for 30 minutes, does it start? That could possibly be the CPS instead of the fuel pump relay. As for the relay, do you know where the ABS computer is, near the driver's end of the radiator? The relay is in the module located to the left of that. It's a black box, around 1-1.5" thick, about 5" long and 3.5" wide. It'll have an M on it, and the official ford # is E9DF-12B577-AB

Hey SHO91MTX, is that the same location for the ATXs also? Is that relay in with other relays or is it just the fuel pump relay?

That relay is in a module with several other relays (AC Clutch, HI/LO Fan, and a secondary power feed). Individual relays cannot be replaced unless you splice them to the harness externally.

The whole module is around $110-120 last I heard....
