fuel pump question

I'm installing a 190lph Walbro pump on my 95. My question is should I keep the pulse dampener that is inline with the pump or remove it and use a piece of hose with a couple of clamps to make the connection.

I don't really know if you need it or not, but when I installed my Walbro pump, I took it out. I got the pump for the mustang and the hose that came with it had a couple light bends in it, but it stretched straight and connected with no problems. I soldered my wires and heat shrinked them. Also the mustang sock that goes on the bottom of the pump is straight and sits at a little bit of an angle in the taurus tank but it is not a problem. The taurus sock has a angle built in to let it sit flat on the tank. I have not had any problems with the flat mustang sock.

You can also replace a little rubber duck thing that is on the return line if you want. I didn't.

My original pump was fine, but it wasn't holding pressure when I shut the car off, making it difficult to restart if you didn't prime it a couple times, because the check valve was broke on the pump. When I took it off you could here it rattling around.

Auto Performance Engineering now has SHO specific kits that let you keep the stock pulse dampener. I would have but the 89 didn't come with a pulse dampener.

It is in there for a reason. Try to keep it installed if at all possible. I recall using a tubing cutter to remove a short length from the metal tube downstream of the damper. This allowed the longer 155 lph pump to fit and retain the pulse damper.
