I got my new 174lph fuel pump, and im putting it in friday.

Im doing the access door thing.

What did yall use to cover the opening back up?

Now, to find a tool that can do the job of cutting through there.

Some people have used pieces of aluminum, or bulk metal to cover it back up. When I did it I only cut 3 sides and bent the fourth side up, then folded it back down and sealed it up.

Ever considered what would happen in a rearend colision if the tank busted and caught on fire? I don't think I would enjoy a gas blaze in the car with me. I wouldn't recommend it but it does sound a bit easier. I would rather drop the tank.....................

I used two peices of metal sheets to conform to the underside of the opening. I then pop-rivet them in. The panel just sets on top and I seal it up with duct tape. I also coated all bare metal so it does not rust.

Above the tank, there is a layer of padding and a whole seat. If the accident was bad enough to bring that seat out and allow fuel past it, you've already got bigger problems. You would also need something to ignite the fuel. Not to say it can't happen...

Seriously, if you got rear ended and a fire breaks out under your car, you're already in a pretty bad situation, my friend. Whether or not there's a hole under your back seat isn't going to be the determining factor in whether you walk out Original or Extra Chrispy. :oogle:

My floorpan when I was finished. I edited my post in Bizzy's thread to show pictures, since they didn't show last time. :thumb:

How the **** does that back seat come out? I remember someone saying something about some clips somewhere, but I have yet to find them...

If I remember correctly you have to take the seat-back off before you can get the seat out. There are metal flanges between the seat-back and the chassis. The seat-back has two metal bars that mate into the ******. Excuse the bad art.

The Garage.
The bottom portion comes out first. Push in and pull up on the front of the seat (both sides) and it will come out.

Thank you for the help. I installed it today.

Started at 2:30 clock and got done at 7. :nut:

Hit a few roadblocks. But, if i had to do it again with what I know now, I could have easily had it all done in 3 hours. Certain things were a beyatch to get undone. And the dremel was getting its butt kicked. (ran out of cutting wheels)
