Just put in my new fuel pump. Now my fuel gauge isnt working. The wire connections for the fuel gauge are on the same plug as the fuel pump. Therefore, I must be pluged in or car wouldnt run. I have approximatly 8 gallons currently in the tank, and the light is on with the gauge regestering Empty. Before installing the new sending unit, I checked the output of both the new and the old they where fairly close, however the new one has a much smoother progression. The only weird thing I noticied was when i turn the car off after about 10 minutes the gauges drifts up to about the 1/8 mark and returns to Empty as soon as I turn the key. Could the polarity on the new sending unit be refeversed. Dont make sense cuz its just resistance to ground but I am not sure. I have also called the parts store where i bought the sending unit and they are certain I have the correct unit. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a setup or calibration for the fuel gauge.

Mike
