yamahaSHO:
Now eveyone is getting gun metal wheels....
They look good! thumb
I've been wanting it for awhile, but I didn't have the money to get the powdercoating done. So I finally came across some rattlecan paint I thought would work.
AutoSHO- The rear I believe are in spec and the fronts at about -0.5 on both sides. Without any modifications done. It may be the other way around, but its pretty close either way. I had my normal shop install them and the boundurant struts. Then a different shop did the alignment when I got the new tires put about a year ago.
I'll have to get back to you on the color, its in the car. I found it at NAPA. Its labeled as a wheel paint and is only one of 3 colors I saw.
For the prep I removed the wheel. Then I used scotch brite to scuff it, after that I rubbed it with sticky tack stuff to remove the rest of the dust and what not. Finally I used a spray gun for the can and put on 3 even coats, letting the paint dry inbetween sessions. Then topped it off with a once over of clearcoat. The calipers were also painted today, I covered the rotors and hit it with 2 coats of dark ford blue.
Thanks for the compliments guys! thumb
Edit: guitar333 looks like I missed a couple of your questions, I left the tire on the wheels because the paint flakes off the rubber so there is no need to mask it unless you want to go that extra step. Also I think total it took maybe 2-3 hours not including the other stuff I did today(2 coats of nightshades on the tail lights, color matching the SHO logos with the wheels and painting the calipers.) It all depends on how many wheels you can do at a time, the first side I did one at a time, then for the other side I did them both at the same time. wink
