my hang out is just south of 13 mile on the east side of woodward across from the cemetary. It is the Ford dealer bodyshop and used car lot at the red light. look for a copper colored 1930 Ford five window high boy coupe with a dual quad 409 parked in the lot. That would be me.

We usually wander down to that Ford lot, as my buddy lives on the street next to Target Sports. Couldn't make it last year for his party, hope to make it this year if work allows.

Update.
Tonight I installed the injectors from Off Road Sho, wired the engine and she came alive. Sounds like an Offy on steroids. I will certainly stir the troops coming out of a 1926 touring car. A big thanks to Tom for the parts and his advice. However, starting the motor raises another question. She started, revved to something like 1200, dropped to something like 500, pulsed up and down three or four times then stalled. I starter it 3 more times each time she pulsed up and down and stalled. More info: the intake gasket is used and probably leaking (don't want to install the new one for $100 bill the engine is painted and detailed), the MAS is sitting on the floor but connected, the air temp sensor is sitting on the floor but connected, the motor responds to the throttle body but does not want to idle. Does any of this appear to be an issue needing resolved now or will it disappear following final assembly? In other words, can I pull the wiring, install the body to complete the firewall and steering and bodywork and paint confident that when final assembly is complete she will run as expected? Thanks much in advance. Jim.

Possible sticking/bad IAC. You could try cleaning it out, but results have been mixed in the past.

but it is going to be confused if the mafs is sitting on the floor so no air is moving across it - the pcm will not understand how the iac can open and close without any change in the amount of air going into the engine. I would either disconnect the mafs connector or stick it on the intake hose.

worst case, it also needs an iac valve.

The IAC valve is in place and wired. The MAF is on the floor because the piping is inside the cowl and the body is not on the frame. Is it better to unplug the MAF for a test run or would you advise I set the body back on and plumb and wire everything before making the commitment to complete the bodywork and paint? As stated long ago this is my first computer/injected motor. If this were your typical small block I would have no questions. Thanks for your advice. Jim

If it's possible, just install some plumbing to allow you to run the maf. It's definitely not going to like idling smooth if it s getting a signal from maf but showing zero air movement. If this is not possible then unplug maf, PCM will assume it went back and at least employ a get home strategy.

Ship it! You're good to go on the engine for now, everything you described is small potatoes. If you're really worried about the intake gaskets, check them with a smoke machine or pull the intake and throw a very thin layer of rtv on both sides and re-bolt it on.

I pulled the MAF plug and fired the motor. She ran much better. Not quit driving tune-up yet but sufficient to make me confident the balance is small potatoes. The harness is off, the body is going back on to finish firewall and body work. Then blow it all apart, finish weld the chassis, paint, final assembly and final tune-up. BTW: this thing sounds great. I used the stock exhaust manifolds and a dual in and out muffler. Deep like a big block and crazy like an Offy. Should be a blast in a car weighing about 1500 pounds. Thanks again everyone for the assistance. I will update as work progresses.

Welcome to the Frankensho club. Love to see some photos. I am waiting for the radiator to be built so I can run the motor for a while to teach the PCM the facts of life. Did you find a good way to block off the heater hose ******* in the crossover? I did not have good luck with a 3/4 pipe tap and plug.
