My poor poor SHO. I have been misusing and abusing her, and now she is beginning to protest. I need plugs and wires for sure (Motorcraft this time - I know). AC compressor is dragging badly. Exhaust leak at the ****** sounds like a freaking Toyota. Hasn't been washed in idunnohowlong - haven't even opened the hood, and now I'm kind of afraid to. She's 500 miles past due on an oil change, and has mismatched tires from three different manufacturers - that's a long vacationland story. The front end creaks and groans when turning, and the rear strut mounts clatter the rest of the time.

This post is in the nature of a confession, in the hopes that you will all rag me so mercilessly that I will be forced to take action. I really want to take care of all this - really - but I have a pregnant wife, and we're selling our small house to buy a bigger one, and every spare dollar this season has gone into my latest addiction/hobby - that blasted shifter kart! It's been worth it, though - I'm leading the Sunday series' with one event left, and sixth place in the Saturday series, and my new engine should have 2-3 more hp...kinda like modding the SHO - that 3 hp is costing me around $500!

Anyhoo - I'm here browsing Midwest SHO and SHONut for suspension parts and plugs and wires, because my new house HAS A GARAGE!! Woo-hoo!! Peace, y'all - I'll be back when the long winter nights keep me off the track and the baby wakes me up at 3 a.m...

Try Taylor wires instead, IMO. Cheaper and probably as good or better than Motorcraft. About $85 after shipping, IIRC. I love them. Then get a pack of Motorcraft plugs from Autozone for $25, and an exhaust ****** doughnut gasket (if thats where the leak is, as was mine) for $5. Change the oil for about $20. Then see where you are after that.

Fred,

To err is human, to forgive devine. Neither of which is a ranger's policy! I hope you and your wife have a happy and healthy baby. And if it is a girl most, if not all, of your hobby money will go for things like shoes, clothes, purses, make-up, cell phone bills, and almost anything else her little heart desires. Start saving money for a wedding and/or education now, and about the time she turns 13 you'll need to add a bathroom and closet space to the house. :snicker:

Been there, done that. Boys are much easier. They are far less complicated. They are harder on car parts, like clutches, but less complicated. :thumb:
As for the SHO, fix it up now while you have the time and the money.
Your life is about to change forever! rangerj

From what I hear AC Delco wires are just as good as the motorcraft wires (same shape and fit I believe.) Also, I think they are only $50. I was one of the "only use ford wire people" but it doesnt hurt to take a look.

Thanks guys - it's already better. Ran the codes yesterday, and I have a koeo stored 14, so I have ordered the CPS, also a set of Taylor wires (thanks, MidwestSHO!). I at least opened the hood yesterday, pulled all the plugs, r/r'ed the DIS connections and cleaned the MAF. It's better, but still needs TLC.

rangerj - it's a boy, thank God! :D

jelloslug - no more used parts, thank you. i have learned my lesson. i just sold my road bike, so very soon i will be reworking the entire suspension, and probably installing Tokicos.

Why do I wait until the cold weather hits to do all my unheated garage work?!?
