I don't think I have ever seen this "side effect" of crank cancer before... It sure does prove just how strong and "hardened" the crank shaft really is though. This crank pulley spun freely against the crank shaft for about 1 minute or 1/2 mile at sub 2500rpm speeds. Below are the pictures of the aftermath.

Guys, be sure to keep your crank bolt tight! :oogle:

For the record, the crank shaft didn't have but a small amount of scratches on it that were not physically felt. I'd say the scratches were mere microns deep. This crank pulley has about 2-3mm worth of play around the entire inner diameter of the crank shaft hole. :nut:

The dampener shouldn't be touching the crank on that surface, it touches the beveled timing belt guide. Which in turn rides against the crank timing sprocket.
