because you get a fantastic amount of car for the money
- That is funny because I have always thought the Mustang was about right, if not a little over priced for a car you are going to beat on, or drive to work, for my money the SHO (I don't think I would own a regular Taurus) is a whole lot of car for the money. Your right about resale on both cars (Which is why I can afford a SHO) BUT Once again this comes down to being lazy and not marketing the car, have you ever seen a commercial or event or anything FMC sponsored that featured anything but the Mustang or a Truck. This cost money and they may not meet expectations, this is all being driven by Wall Street, when I bought my car I was actually looking for a truck BUT a 2012 F-150 with the same options, same mileage would have been another $10,000 .

when you look in to it the only difference in the 16 and till the last model off the factory line will be only the date of the build.
Same thing, updating a car means spending money, spending money lowers profits and since they FMC has pretty much nothing but contempt for there customer base why try and give them a good product. A long time a go they tried to develop a customer, they sold them a cheap car (Falcon/Mustang) until they could afford a nicer car (Galaxy/LTD), then maybe they moved you into a Mercury, then if you really started making some money they sold you a Lincoln, Now Ford is a truck company because it has high margins, a dependable customer base and they don't have to try that hard. They thing makes me so mad is they have just given up, Yes we like our SUV's so do I BUT I have been looking there are still A LOT of cars out there.

For me I always buy Ford even if it cost me more or did not have as many features, Now I am going for the best car no matter who makes it, That is really SAD but it seems foreign company's care more about the American consumers then American company's.

* LMAO Yes I am beating a dead horse and ranting, I knew they would stop making the Taurus BUT this is stupid an I am ******, So the RANT continues.

There will ALWAYS be market for a four door sedan. Again look at Audi, BMW, and Mercedes...

Ford just doesn’t want to play in that market apparently.

I knew they were phasing out the Taurus out soon. But I still bought a 17 SHO I love it but there are days that **** me off when you look in to it the only difference in the 16 and till the last model off the factory line will be only the date of the build. No update in technology will be added to the SHO which is BS but they save money.
I bought Winter tires and rims from the dealer and they had to change the TPS sensors because they installed the newer ones the will show each tires pressure all the time. View attachment 6443

If it makes you feel better. An exactly equippd 17 and on p.p. with sony, roof opening panel, special color is more cost effective then my 16 I bought new... so the good news. More SHOs for the masses.

Just as in the stock market, if you think you are going to succeed by following the current trends, you are going to go broke. And a lot sooner than you think.
This is where the car companies are now. Childishly following the current trend to make sure their quarterly earnings delight their accountants. Today!

EXACTLY - It really makes no since at ALL, if your a young company they don't care if you make any money, they are looking at future earning possibility, Take Tesla as an example, they haven't made a dime but for a few weeks they where "valued" the most expensive car company, Ford probably makes more money on parts then Tesla brings in. Now take the big three, if they take a few years off, pour money into developing, marketing, customer relations, etc, profits go down the Street hammers them investors get ******. Imagine if you went after the Euorpean touring sedans with an eight cylinder Eco-Boost.

I had two adds for Lexus on my Twitter feed already today, they have taken us for granted, the money they should be spending on marketing they post has profits, I saw one commercial for the SHO around 2011 and have been keeping an eye out for one ever since then.

NOPE - Dodge for me maybe BUT That's not really an American car, I am so angry right now I don't want to declare anything but my family has been loyal to Ford for 75 years and its clear this is a one sided love affair. The dealerships suck I hate going there, they don't even know anything about the cars there selling, everything is expensive and for the price the service sucks and has for years. Its clear they have no interest in my loyalty, I may buy one more SHO if I can find one I really like, BUT I am just don't know anymore.

F/Y/I I bought a new Dodge Charger RT with the road and track package some years back, the hemi was rated at 345 hp then. Car started falling apart after 10k miles. It could not get out of its own way, I called it the slug. Also drank lots of fuel. Hated it !

Ha.

Had to laugh as I came across this article from Associated Press, that documents fuel prices are at their highest levels in 3 years....

And that they're STILL CLIMBING!!!

Hahaha. I am so gonna laugh at all those high end truck and SUV buyers when they can't get rid of their $70k plus vehicles and are left scrambling for more fuel efficient cars/sedans.

Oh the irony I tell 'ya.

Oh, but Ford will have a mostly electric and hybrid lineup within four years. Obviously gasoline is not going to be a problem. Four years is plenty of time to redesign all of their powerplants. And still stop making sedans, for whatever reason.

All this electrification is great and all but I haven't heard of anyone besides Tesla building infrastructure but even with that I am not sitting in a rest stop waiting for my car to charge next time I am going on a road trip. Not to mention, I live in a condo and have no way to charge an EV and neither does my office.

I long for the days when you could go to a dealership and actually order a vehicle the way you wanted it. Not just buy whatever is closest to what you're looking for. I personally have never been able to do that, but it sounds like fun. Obviously that won't happen in anytime soon. Or if you can, it's probably on a vehicle I couldn't afford lol. Back then I guess Ford, Chevy and Dodge did care about customer input and loyalty. Shame, I guess that's why they're called the good ole days.

They will go up an down as they always do BUT I think your right, the are freezing the CAFE standards, the middle east is about to catch fire, and getting anymore Domestic production s going to get expensive. Its ironic all those people driving Prius actually made fuel more affordable for all those people who made fun of them.

IDK about that BUT You are right electric an Hybrid are going to be the future it really just makes since, I would love a Tesla if I could afford it those things are crazy fast.
I am not sitting in a rest stop waiting for my car to charge next time I am going on a road trip.
As time goes on people like us, who like to drive and enjoy taking a road trip is going to continue to go down. "Back in the day" LOL You could not wait to get your drivers license now kids don't care, and most people seldom leave the area the live in. The electric charging stations will continue to grow BUT electric cars are almost at 300 miles range which is about a tank of gas an about what a lot of people drive in a week anyway.
I long for the days when you could go to a dealership and actually order a vehicle the way you wanted it.
When I was growing up the guy at the Ford Dealership knew my Dad's name, If you had a question they would go out of there way to answer it, and most importantly if your car broke down they would fix it, the dealerships where always a little bit more expensive BUT you really did get quality work an they would keep at it until it was fixed. Today - I hate going to the stealership, they are horrible way over priced, an they charge you for everything an they may not even fix it.
- LOL Have a great week,

I'm usually not a cynic or conspiracy theorist, but does anyone else think this might be a marketing ploy to get people to think it's time to buy a Ford car before they're all gone?

LOL NOOPE! They haven't done any marketing on an cars besides the Mustang in a long time, I've been saying this for a long time, if they actually spent some money on marketing they would sell more cars. But what do I know.

Yup, the U.S. suckered by OPEC again. Everyone gets comfortable with cheap gas and runs out buying big trucks and SUV's, then bam, gas prices go up and the dealer won't be able to move them if their life depended on it. The best bet we have is boosting DI engines and possibly getting fuel pressures up where E85 comes into play again. I don't see this as being a great move on Fords part, fleets like Avis, Budget, Hertz, Alamo, National, and Enterprise still rent cars and price shop them when buying. Ford is more or less giving the market to foreign car makers.

Seems like its not just FMC But you are correct, it seems American automakers just don't want to compete with imports. Since this happened I have been looking around an there are a lot of sedans out there. How can you not even try, that is just not the American way.

I wouldn't hold to much confidence in the E85 market(s) long term, as the farmer's have been complaining about the lack of subsidy's from the Federal level. So they're less inclined to produce it for an industry that's not paying them as well as the food markets are....

That and the food market industry has more influence due to more consumers demanding corn production for food (rather than being produced for fuel) and the price there of to remain affordable......

I just don't see it being a viable option long term. Again key word being LONG TERM.

Especially as other influencing factors of electric based vehicles continue their impact into the automobile industry.

Certainly will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the 3 to 7yr time frame(s).

Grab a beer and let's watch the chaos unfold.

The whole ethanol thing has always been kind of murky at best, Some legit study's I read show that suppliers burn more gallons of diesel then ethanol they produce, there is a lot of plant waste and there are some issues with stability. Given the right conditions it likes t go back to corn meal, you really have to make sure you burn it i quickly. Electric cars are coming but we are still a long way off from them being affordable for everyone an being able to drive one to Florida an back.
I guess that's what Ford is doing letting the rest of the world develop technology then play catch up, IDK I 'm just a guy who barely made it out of high school an sailed around the world for a living. Guess I'm just going to miss the Taurus's.

Ford patents a LOT of technology (I am sure others do too). But it can take a decade or more to fruition, I guess having to count beans will do that.
