Ford C-Max rim test fit

I decided to test - it my 2017 C-Max rims on the SHO.
17x7, 55MM offset.

The fit was fine, no rubbing anywhere except for the caliper. The hub is very shallow on the C-Max rims, so the caliper locked the rim as I snugged it up. Brake upgrade or 5MM shims would solve this. I did not check the rears, but I have the 11.6" kit in the rear.

Caliper pic is the front on stock rims. You can see how close it is.

I plan on buying the cheaper regular C-Max rims ( silver, see pic of daughter's 2015) because they are designed for better aerodynamics than the 2017 Titanium ones I tried on. It is a 1 MPG improvement on the C-Max.

Super cool! That's a high offset -- was there no rubbing on the struts? What tire size is on that C-Max rim?

I need to check the back for fitment next.

These were stock, 225/50-17.

I am running Eibachs.

I do have the strut spacers at the top ( groaning strut fix) on the front.

Finally, after a long winter I got the time to test for the rears for C-Max rim fitment. Note, I have the '96 rear upgrade. No fitment issues! The side I checked has a dent above the wheel well, and it still looks like it will clear.
So I will be looking into either a '96 upgrade or 13" brakes for the front this year.
I need Tires for the SHO anyway, and while 16" are now mostly back in stock I need to stop better these days here in CT.

BTW, the front had plenty of strut clearance.

What do you think? Stock C-Max size, so 1" taller than the 225/50-16's I had on.
Ride is the same, thanks to the same profile. Braking and accelerating are obviously impacted with the larger diameter.
The tires came off my C-Max - Goodyear Assurance all seasons. Average all-around tire, with a decently stiff sidewall. I couldn't justify spending a whole bunch on new tires if I hadn't validated this combination would work properly in the long run.
I do need to add:
The wheels are thicker than expected, so the wheel lugs are flush with the top of the nuts. I'm not sure how I like this, especially since there is an unthreaded end on the lugs. I retorqued the rims after the first journey ( loaded the car up with 20 bags of mulch, two trips ) and they needed it. BTW, these rims are rated for more weight than the SHO (C-Max and Focus EV are 600 lbs heavier empty), and this particular set (2013-2016) are 1.5MPG more efficient due to better areo vs the two-tone ones I test fit previously. Should give a slightly better top end, I would imagine.

Rims were $60 each at local yards.

OK, so an update:
I finally got the '96 brake upgrade done, and the bracket hits the rims. I have washers on for now, until I find an equivalent spacer (3/16").
The way the rim curves at the hub is shallow.
I'm glad I didn't buy new tires yet, but then again, the rims were $60 each and the tires were used cheap Goodyear All Seasons (VR rated) from my '17 C-Max, so it was a cheap upgrade.
Looking at the 13" kit, I don't see any clearance issues there, so if you were going from the '89-93 brakes (assuming the knuckles are in good condition*), and wanted these rims for airflow efficiency (and light weight, and cheap), then go for the 13" disks as an upgrade.
* I would also like to note, my '91 knuckles were badly worn and I had someone weld some metal on the pad slider surfaces, but the calipers still didn't fit right as the pads sat on a downward slope towards the rim. That meant I was running one washer set as spacers on the old brakes to keep from hitting the same spot on the rims.

Update #2:
I went to Summit Racing for universal spacers. The max I wanted was 3/16, which left me with two options, neither are hub-centric.
I went with the WCA-WS09 over the 06 which is 1/8" thick. It may have worked, but I wanted room in case it got too close when torqued down.

I adhered the spacer with Permatex Form-A-Gasket 2.

Results in the pictures, along with pictures on how it lines up with the rim.
