You canadians should probably be more clear about 80 kmh or mph cause there is a big difference. last time I went to canada the sign said 50 so I went 50... 5 mph and nearly got a speeding ticket. I know that the metric system is used everywhere but in the U.S. but I think it sucks and I hate it

On my old BF goodrich comp ta's balanced four times at different places. alignment done, and now 800 bucks later new michelin pilots which still give the same vibration. Any experts conquer this vibration!!

I too have the same problem... I thought it was just crappy Michigan roads!

I am wondering if the addition of SFC's would help with the vibrations, as though perhaps body-flex is to blame for some of the vibes. I know that my dash practically waves at me in the middle when I am doing about 78. At 83 it planes out and is smooth again.

I also was wondering if bad engine mounts could be a culprit.

But, since my baby is at the dealer today to diagnose why it no longer shifts any higher than 2nd gear (and it is an ATX)... perhaps the dealer can give me reasons for my problems.

Im back to the list cause my SHO has been running pretty well and I've been incredibly busy. Anyways the SHO is hitting 145,000 soon. I've noticed for about a month that its starting to vibrate intermittantly while driving. It seems to be real noticable at about 35-50mph, disappears then is noticable on the highway at 70. But it seems to be intermittant. On the highway my whole dash vibrates. Heres the scoup on my SHO. It has original front end suspension/steering parts. Except for the cv-boots and the drivers side sway bar. Steering pump or rack moans intermittantly in low speed manuvers. Clunk/knock/thump when turning left, sound like someone whacked my car. Grunch noice from struts while turning in cold weather cause the bushings are shot cause they are the original shocks. The rims are off a 94 SHO which possibly are not balanced correctly. Any ideas, I was thinking possibly the tie rods could be shot?

About how many miles did you have on your SHO when you had the problem. Was the vibration an intermittant problem or was it always a problem. Did is pulse slower when you were travelling slower and increase in pulse rate as speed increased. Did it disappear at certain speeds... thanx

I have only noticed it for the past two sets of tires. One set was Bf goodrich com ta's which I thought was the problem. Now I have Michelin Pilots.
The vibration does not happen until you are right in the 120kmh to 135kmh anywhere over or less than that and it goes away..
Had ford look at it and they said everything is tight under the car. which I dont seem to beleive. These guys are clowns!!

Blown front struts is my guess, on Gen II's they give out pretty fast...go aftermarket, don't recommend the prices Ford has for these when they are McPhersons anyway.
Control arms should improve steering feel and control but the bounce is probably struts, the tie rod wear will make you feel the tire giving way on its own, the alignment will pull the wheels, the performance tires should be speed balanced for speeds in excess of 80mph anyway, the balance weights should be checked for placement on the inside if the outside is not working for you, it makes the wheels bounce if done incorrectly, and the list goes on.........

Ma Ma M and 2 of 'em.

I have new struts (tokico) & springs (eibach), BFG G-Forces, & the vibration at 70+ pretty bad now. Working on a rebalance & realign now. Next after that will be front endlinks, etc.

I had a major shake that got worse at highway speeds. Ended up being the ball joints. To replace them, you replace the whole control arm. It's not very expensive for the parts.

If your SHO has over 100k and these haven't been replaced, you might as well bank on it needing them.
