I have also been struggling with this problem of a vibration around 80. Here is what I've done so far.
On my old BF goodrich comp ta's balanced four times at different places. alignment done, and now 800 bucks later new michelin pilots which still give the same vibration. Any experts conquer this vibration!!

Does it only vibrate when you hit the brakes? Because if it does it then, you need to get your rotors resurfaced.

I also have the vibration around 80... But I have a shopping list of things that need to be done. You probably have thrown a weight in your wheel. Balancing your tires sometimes is NOT enough. Take it to a shop and see if the wheels have thrown a weight. I need to get mine spin balanced, the tires remounted, alignment, etc. But haven't had the time or money. My front tires have now worn unevenly and I'll need new tires too... Hope this helps!

Just got the 96 brake upgrade done by Josh at sho nut. Phenomenal compared to the old 95 brakes that have fade from 60 kmh. couldnt be the brakes. I dont use them much at 80 or i try not to anyways.
Maybe this is an axle or something like the u joint. not sure just guessing. It only happens at that speed. confusing the **** out of me just gonna have to drive slower

sho95,

I was considering getting the brake upgrade done by Josh as well.
So you've noticed a big difference?
Did you have to leave the car with him for a while?

I went on holidays for a week and dropped it off at his house for that week. Not really sure how long it took but he has good prices for those who dont want to do things like that or dont have time. I havent managed to get any brake fade and I've tryed a couple of times from about 100kmh.. I do notice on the highway if I'm coming up behind someone quickly and have to get on the brakes that they dont fade at highway speeds like the old ones. gonna have to try a faster stop. I always wanted to get my car to go faster, now I'm seeing how fast it will stop HHHMMMM

Have your wheels been examined for damage due to a curb or pothole impact? Have you had any impacts that could have bent an axle? How are they mounting the wheels? The centering cone should be positioned on the inboard side of the wheel to be hub-centric.

I can understand the BFGs not being round (being BFGs), but the Michelin Pilots are well made tires and should be very round.

Is it a loud, high frequency buzzing that seems to be coming your sunroof? If it is, then it's the plastic lining around your windshield, on the outside of the car.

I have same prob at about 85. 90 on up is smooth but 85 is a little shaky. I just had wheel aligned and balanced 5k ago. New tires but they are pretty cheap. My dad's had a problem too but his was the right front wheel bearing. I know my bearings are good.

I have the same problem too. I have done all the things that you have done. I recently had the SHO stoppers put on and the mechanic said that my ball joint on the lower control arm is worn out and letting the knuckle move so I figure that might be the problem. I purchased the lower control arms but still have to put them on. If it works I’ll let you know.

I have a similar problem, but I know it has to do with the crappy BF Goodrich comp T/A Tires I have on the front, trying to wear them out. I have two new Toyo Proxes T-S1 on the rear now. I also have a worn ball joint....but with 205K miles who's complaining.

this seems to be a very common problem,,,,,,,,, i have the same thing,,,,,,,, we need to figure out what is causing this vibration and fix it,,,,,, I notice it most when im doing about 90,, and letup on the gas,, without the brake,, the car just coasts back to 60,,, inbetween 90 and 60, is when it vibrates the most.

hey guys, this might help. in general if the vibration is comeing from the body of the car, seats, roof and the like. it has to do with the rear tires. if the vibration is coming from the sterring wheel or, if bad enough, the dash. it probably is coming from a front tire problem.

provided you have a good front end under your car. rotate the tires in diffrent patterns side to side and crisscross or whatever, just see what works and what doesn't

I have had the criss cross tire rotation done and it still did the vibration. Now I have the new tires and it still does it, and if it wears out these tiree I'll be ****** for spending so much money. Sounds like a replacement of every front end part is in order!!!! Very angry!!!

I have an idea this is the problem. Where did you purchase and what was the cost of the control arms? Also, approximately how much for the installation and alignment?

I am willing to bet it is the ball joints in the control arms or in the tie rods. Replace them. I am sure if they have over 100K it is time to replace them. Give it a shot!

Alright, I have the lower control arms installed and guess what? The vibration is gone! I think I paid some where around fifty bucks a piece at the local dealer and installed them my self. Easy fix to an on going problem.
