I was taking out my fog lights last night to clean them out and stuff. well i cleaned out the fog lights really good, even on the inside as well. But when i noticed something about one of them. th reflective material in the back was either dirty or just gone. After i dried them, i re installed them, and the one that had the reflective material was very bright!
So i got to thinking about what i could do for now. Then it hit me. My friend has one of his bumpers from his focus over here. the stock one, with the fog lights! Yes!!! So i go and get the fog lights, and see if they fit. WTF!! They do!
I mean they fit as good as the stock housing fit. I mean the lights into the housing not the housing to the bracket.
any ways i hook them up, and turn on the fog lights with the parking lights, I did the trick were you can have them on with the parking lights. And they put out a very nice straight flat beam! I was like wow! I had the car in the garage/ barn, and it projected them all the way to the other end, about 70 feet, and they were bright as well. this was with the flouresent lights on as well. Although i didnt mount them up, i know they would have preformed very well, which is why i am going to do it right now. but i need some advice on how to mount them up. i took of the bracket for the stock lights, and man they are heavy! But is there any way to mount them other than the bracketry? I know without a pic its gonna be hard, but they are stock 02' fog lights from a focus, so they are shaped like a sharks fin, thats the only way i can describe them. they dont fill the holes as good as the stockers, but when on you cant tell the difference! Any comments or help is welcome! TIA.. :thumb:

well if you want to get creative go to your local hardware/menards/home depot/lowells or what ever you have down in Texas and go to the prefab hardware/metal section. THere they have these poles that like he same things stop signs are made of, the strips with all the wholes in them. It's about a 1/4 inch thick and and inch wide and you can get them in varying lengths.... they have holes drilled in them about every 1/2 inch to an inch. You can use that to build a bracket... just get some plyers and if you have a vice that would be good... and some nuts and bolts you should be good to go!

just get creative.

Follow Up:
Today I decieded to take a look at my fog lights. I took them apart, and noticed something. The reflective material is spray paint. C'mon ford! Anyways, i cleaned them all up, the inside and the lens. i used wd-40 and 1000 grit sand paper. they came out about 50% clearer. but still had a slight film on them.
I was thinking of options for the reflective material. then i thought i have some aluminum tape that might work. So i got that out and cut it so it would fit, put some on the back, and top and bottom. this stuff is rated at 200F. So hopefully the fog lights dont get that hot. then i got some high temp gasket maker, and put a 1/8'' bead around the housing, and put the lens back on,pushed down a bit, and did the same for the other.
let them sit in the sun, to cure alittle, then hit them up with some gorrila glue, along the outside, mainly were the bead didnt get all the way.
Put the brackets back on, which are pretty heavy for just the fog lights, mounted up the lights, and put the lights in.
turned on the lights then the fog lights.
Man are they ALOT clearer. And this is in the daytime, but in my garage as well, but still it was very noticable. even looking at them, they still have a slight film on them, but they look alot better aperance wise as well.
Job didnt take be but about an hour. but the real test will be tonight, im glad i did the fog light switch thingy, so i can see if there any brighter with just the parking lights on. :thumb:

Have you considered upgrading to better lights. I have a set of PIAA 1500s on ebay right now. Starting price is $9.88 for a set of $200+ lights.

Ive been thinking of what, Karson aka greenbean, told me. He spliced in new lights at the prongs of the old lights. he cut the old lights off at the base of the glass, and then put the new lights on the old tabs.
I was thinking about trying this, cause one of mine is a little dimmer than the other, it got rusted a little. just trying to figure out what light to get, and what wattage. I think he said 55w. But isnt the stock at 33w? how is that possible, to run a 55w, off a 33w? wont it be as bright as the 33w?
Just thinking of other options, just to play with.
Easiest way to get rid of this problem is to buy new fog lights. But when your bored, you need something to do right?
i was hoping to get some with a blue tint, or either just really bright ones. any suggestions? comments are always welcome too...
